 Mikey's Tee Shot on 18 Squares Match In the fading late afternoon sun, Mikey stuffs his tee shot in close to edge out Rodney for CTP.  We had 8 players tee up today after a 4-day break and it showed. Rodney and Glen tied for Medalist with a +1. Play was so shoddy that Nelly Korda did not wait around to have her picture taken with any of us. Team 1 takes front and overall while team 2 takes back and CTP for a fittingly justified tie. No money changing hands today. Glen led with 33 points and Mikey's CTP was his 9th of the season. Speaking of the CTP, time is running out for anyone to catch Doc Milde. His 18 total leads Glen by 2, R Bohn by 4 And Allen 5. Tom A rounds out top 5 with his 12. Since Mother Nature has given us a few days off from golf (hope you caught up with the less important things at home), this may be a good time for a little history lesson about our Founding Fathers. No, you are not going to see names like Jefferson, Madison, or Washington but you will see Hayden, Hill, McIntosh, and Marshall. If you enjoy playing with this group or even just tolerate it because you have no other game, read on to see how we got to where we are. On a golf course long, long ago, four unlikely golfers got together for a round of golf. Legend has it that they couldn't find any other groups to accept them, so they started their own. After a rather rocky start full of doubts, personality conflicts, rules interpretations, and score keeping issues, things smoothed out enough that they formed a bond that continues today. I was able to join occasionally as a sub, but they stayed a foursome until Dean came along and now, we were at six. The group had started to grow. Let us me...

  RODNEY'S TEAM SWEEPS TO VICTORY! When Scott showed up wearing his Nike cap, it should have warned the competition. Not since Tiger Woods has someone bested the field by 10 strokes. Scott's medalist winning +12 led Rodney's team to a clean sweep. When asked about his day Scott replied: "With the wind as tough as it was today, I just figured these wimps wouldn't be able to handle it, so I just tried to play my game. I was right, of course."  Glen wins CTP to pull within 2 of Doc Milde for yearlong CTP race. Wouldn't be surprised if Mark comes home early from his travels. This was the scene at Kimbeland CC today as birdies were flying everywhere. A total of 31 birdies were recorded today amongst the 19 participants. The Dream Team of Andy, Rick, Glen and Tom A were responsible for 14 of those. Amazing Tom Allen had 5 on the back, 7 total. This team scored what must be a record 129 points, 9 over their quota. You would think this would be sure victory, but wait, not so fast Dream Team. Under the steady and calming leadership of Captain Leroy Pourney, and the 4 birdies from Jeff "I'll never shank again" Stoll, team Quatro tied the Dreamers on the back and took front and total for the biggest upset since David beat Goliath. The Dreamers did win the rabbit with their slew of birdies.  Bob Templeton's tee shot to 8 inches on 18 takes the CTP for team 3. We had a 3-way tie for medalist.  Although the weather cooperated with cool sunny conditions, most of the 16 golfers did not take advantage. Half the field saw their number drop when the day was done. Jeff admires the SEMO Senior All Star team on the first tee. Third tee action has Leroy's squad watching Westy(hidden in the right corner) unload another bomb. R Bohn missing another short one. Highlights included: Mark Richmond medalist blows away the field with +8 (Butch +5) Tom A and R Bohn most points with 31, Mark Milde league leading 18th CTP.  Thirteen players participated in five-dollar Friday with 3 of 4 teams getting a piece of the prize money.  Highlights include Dean "the Dream" Smithmier medalist +7(John S and Tom W +5), Glen most points with 34 and another CTP. Weather looks good early this coming week, so here is a message from our Sargent-at-arms and enforcer Leroy Pourney. LEROY: Boys, you need to be checked in and ready to play by 10:00 on Tues through Fri. Let us know if you are running late. You do not want to get on the naughty list this time of year. On Monday the course opens at 11:00 so be early enough to be included. I usually don't play on Monday, so I don't really care when you show up! Just kidding, always be ready.  What a difference a day makes. Yesterday a beautiful sunny windless round and today dark windy and cold. Yet 16 players assembled to brave the conditions. Not that play was easy. Captain Ruppel's team was spotted in all corners of the course, causing some concern they were lost. "We strayed a little off course in the middle of the round, but found our way in," said the captain. Also lost somewhere in the round was this man: If you see him, tell him he forgot to pay his 4 dollars.
