Weekend Wrap Up As Halloween nears, do you remember the sometimes eerie early 60's TV show hosted by Rod Serling? He started each show with this. It does happen our next game will be on Halloween this Tuesday. The forecast is indeed scary. Full sunshine is good enough for me. How many of our heartier and more adventurous players will show? Looks like I will have to save my costume (Yellow shirt and hat with black shorts and shoes) for another year. With some exceptions Amish golfer and barn raiser. Happy Irish couple Thursday Results A modest number of 10 BB's teed off on Medalist Thursday, a 2nd consecutive day of strong S, SW winds. The tough conditions left the BB's fit to be tied.  Bob and Tom tied for Medalist with +3's, the only 2 players to finish on the plus side. Their teams also tie for Total with lame +5's. Keith takes the CTP. Doc has some nice pictures of Kimbeland colors, marred only by putting golfers in some of them. Friday Play Friday was a 4 on 4 m

Tues & Weds Results

Tonight's blog is a no-frills info only edition covering Tues and Weds play. After this picture of Kimbeland's colors from Leroy, that is. Tuesday 5 team shoot out for Random Skins Tuesday. Allen is Medalist (+7). Rounds of note include Raymond +6 (4 birdies), Brandon +5, Butch and KZ at +4. Clint could have napped all day and joined his group on 18 as he wins 2 events for his team with 2 shots on 18. His tee shot on 18 wins CTP and the birdie putt that followed wins today's skin. Wednesday Clint, when told he was riding with Jeff today. Clint, when told Allen and Keith were his other 2 partners. Scott's Medalist +5 (Eagle on 1) and Marty's +3 carry their team to FBT sweep. Raymond's CTP and winning card hand (a record 17 cards earned) by his team win the other 2 events. It should be noted that Leroy earned 6 of those cards by hitting all 5 par 3's in regulation and holing one of them for birdie. Nice rounds for Allen and KZ with +4's. The CTP winners fr

For the second straight week, the group got 4 days of play in warm, sometimes windy conditions. I don't have any 'extras' to report so here are the results from Thursday and Friday. Thursday-Medalist Day The unfortunate owner of the ball above is Tom, whose drive ever so close to the green turned out to be not so useful. He did save a bogey, however. That shot was not typical for Tom on this day as he had the hot hand going from the start. He had already birdied 1,3,5, and 8 when we reached our drives on #9 fairway. I hit my one good shot of the day, stopping my yellow ball about 4 feet from the hole. Now, I have been known to embellish, or dare I say make up quotes from my fellow golfers. In this case there is no need to change Tom's exact words. "Good Shot! I would sure like to hit mine right next to yours." Talk about calling your shot.   Mission Accomplished. He birdied that hole and 2 more on the back to finish a 3-under 69 and tie Roger for Medalist ho

Thursday Results will be posted this weekend. I can report that Tom won his 2nd consecutive CTP Thursday, so come out Friday to make him earn his 3rd to join Floyd and Butch as the only 3-straight winners. Wednesday Card Game Four 4-man teams squared off in a friendly game of cards. The course was a somewhat friendly even-handed host today as no player scored worse than -2. Along those lines, no one scored better than +3. Oh, except for Roger who seems to show out occasionally with a +8 outburst, like today. His team sweeps the FBT, winning the Total by 10 points. Roger's team also wins the Card Game. They were stopped short of a Royal Flush (winning all 5 events in a single day) by Tom's CTP, which also puts him in the CTP lead for the season. I have stressed so many times about the importance of never taking a putt for granted, never thinking you are out of a match. Today was just another example of how 1 point can change the outcome, which affects several players involved in

Tuesday 10/17

Tuesday had 14 arrive on the tee box. "Random Skins' was the play of the day. It is a team game where a hole is randomly selected, cards checked until a team claims victory. Today's game ended after only 1 card as #16 was chosen and the author of this new game (Raymond) had the only birdie. Randy made up for a disgraceful -9 by winning CTP. Glen and Jeff are no longer mad at him. The rest of the money was no contest, taken by the team that had 3 of the only 4 players to reach +2 or better. Bob wins Medalist (+4) while Leroy and Westy chipped in with +2's. Their team totals of +5 +3 +8 beat the 2nd place team by 15 points. Everyone was a winner at the end though as Jeff brought Sara's famous chili for the post round meal.

Weekend Update

Bud's Boys News This expanded edition will include results from Thursday and Friday, Bud's Boys play in outside tournaments, and other bits of info about the 'Boys'. We will start, however, with the recently completed month of September. September Review  September gave us 15 days of play including our CGOTY tournament. Twenty-eight different BB's played 209 rounds of golf, about 14 players per day. Rick, Clint, Bob, and Butch were multiple CTP winners, each claiming 2. Brandon, Keith, Rodney, and Butch each earned 2 Medals for the month. The 2 players who improved their handicap # the most from beginning to end of the month were Raymond (+4) and Rick (+3), who just happened to finish 1-2 in our big tourney. Speaking of the tournament, it was brought to my attention that there were 2 new records set. Raymond set a new tournament scoring record with a +12 and also becomes the youngest player to ever win the Big Trophy. How about that! CTP Race Updated standings throu
